In 2006, overall teachers’ attendance was 90% and students’ attendance was 85%. Teacher Gulbahar Jamro, who was very popular and hard working, has been promoted to Field Promoter and a new dedicated and motivated teacher has taken his place. Mr. Jamro visits the school at least twice a month. He reported that it was encouraging to see teachers using aids that had been prepared in collaboration with the students from locally available material.
A community meeting was held at the school to brief the parents on their children’s progress. Mr. Jamro took this opportunity to impress on the parents that they must play an active role in their children’s schooling. The local Nazim (the elected town official) also attended this meeting and announced that he would give an electric water pump to the school.
The school is in its final phase of renovation, and the Mr. Jamro has convinced the community to provide additional support to make repairs to the building.
