In 2006, overall teachers had 98% attendance and students’ attendance was 92%. This school has grades kindergarten, one and two. The Field Promoter, Mr. Atta Hussain Tumrani, visits this school at least twice a month to observe the teacher in the classroom and help her with her lessons. He has helped her develop stories in Sindhi to improve students’ reading and writing skills. The teacher has also been using library books from the Kumb for her lessons. All six students in grade two moved onto the Kumb Model School.
The members of the Community-Based Organization (CBO) is very participatory and helps the teacher and Mr. Hussain address school infrastructure issues such as the provision of drinking water and repair of the toilets. The CBO members also help the teacher and Mr. Hussain talk to parents about student attendance matters.
