In 2006, overall teachers had 98% attendance and students’ attendance was 93%. This school has grades kindergarten, one and two. The Field Promoter, Ms. Shabana Arain, visits this school at least twice a month and she works closely with the teacher who has to teach a multi-grade classroom. The teacher uses many activities with the students and is incorporating many low cost and no-cost teaching materials in her instruction.
Ms. Arain meets with the students’ parents to discuss students’ attendance and to address issues of school repair. In 2006 the school suffered during the rainy season and the parents helped out by contributing bricks, mud and labor to repair the school. This appears to have motivated the parents even more to send their children to school and many are personally accompanying them to school in the morning.
The Community-Based Organization (CBO) of this school is quite active and helps the children who need transportation from farther areas.
