In 2006, overall teachers had 98% attendance and students’ attendance was 91%. This school has grades kindergarten, one and two. The Field Promoter, Ms. Naheed Chana, visits this school at least twice a month and reports that the teacher is being creative and is incorporating homemade teaching resources for teaching subjects such as counting and addition. Ms. Chana is working with the teacher to help her improve students’ writing skills in both English and Sindhi.
A group of mothers formed an attendance committee to work with the parents of children who were not as regular or punctual. These mothers also address issues such as health and cleanliness. Ms. Chana works with these mothers to help them organize home-based meetings to discuss some of the seasonal diseases that can affect the children and how to prevent them. Members of the Community-Based Organization (CBO) visit the school regularly and help the teacher with her Sindhi lessons. During 2006 all eleven students from grade two moved up in grade level to the Razal Memon Model School.
