DIL collaborated with the Adult Basic Education Society (ABES) in May 2002 to set up a child friendly community school project called the DIL- ABES project in rural Rawalpindi.
Although Rawalpindi city has eleven universities but the district’s literacy rate is only 70.5%, access to government schools is low as is literacy among women.

Student Dropout Rate: 0.1%
Out of 1743, only two students dropped out of school in 2006.
Exam Results:
Out of 59 students that took the 5th grade exam, 92.3% cleared the exam. A student of Khinger Khurd School took 3rd position in Rawalpindi Board.
Teacher Retention Rate:
7 teachers left in 2006 and were replaced immediately.
