IBB Climbs New Heights For DIL
14 IBBers and 4 spouses completed a 4 day, 37-mile hike and reached an altitude of 13,800 feet! IBB was able to raise $22,703 by 173 individual supporters!
IBB has been a strong supporter of DIL and our employees wanted to come up with an idea to raise money to help fund the Jattal School. Back in 2014, IBB came up with the “Climb for Kids” initiative and started with an ambitious idea to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise awareness and funds for the Jattal School. In 2015, after seeing huge success with the first climb, IBB decided to continue this initiative by traveling to Peru to hike the Inca Trail, summiting Dead Woman’s Pass and ending at Machu Picchu.
The IBB climbing team spent their hours before the trip planning and conditioning for the trek and raising funds to support the students of Jattal School. Every employee committed to self-fund their climb, meaning the climbers paid 100% of the costs out of pocket and used vacation days for the trip. The fundraising goal was set at $20,000 to fund the school’s operating expenses for one year. After many months of fundraising and raising awareness with family and friends, IBB was able to exceed their goal and raised a total of $22,703; 100% of which will go to DIL to support the Jattal School. We are proud of the team of people who completed this trek and helped us support the students of DIL and cannot wait to continue this program in the future.
