YOUR DIL Raises Funds and Awareness

Youth Outreach, Developments in Literacy (YOUR DIL), welcomed 2008 with the success of last year behind them. Between the six chapters, YOUR DIL raised over $70,000 to support the YOUR DIL Nation School in Orangi and the YOUR DIL School in Mansehra. This year began with great momentum. The Los Angeles and San Francisco chapters hosted their first galas. In Los Angeles, Nadia Khan presented her designs during a fashion show at the Beverly Hilton. In San Francisco, the chapter celebrated a Cherry Blossom Festival at the Hotel Kabuki and honored three entrepreneurs who are working to create programs and products to help fight illiteracy. Chapters in New York, Boston and DC all held their first events bringing together old and new patrons and raising money and awareness.

The YOUR DIL online store was launched in June and can be found at www.cafepress.com/yourdil. Volunteers have designed two t-shirts which are being sold and all of the profits will go directly to YOUR DIL. This year, the YOUR DIL chapters look forward to continuing to support the projects in Orangi and Mansehra and are raising funds to support a new school which is currently under construction in Chatro.
