YOUR DIL Increases Chapters and Events in 2008

This has been a fantastic year for YOUR DIL! In the midst of an incredibly tough economic environment, we managed to have our most profitable year ever. Each chapter contributed, and no matter how large or small the event, we were able to bring new faces, new ideas, and new events that really showcased what makes education such a great cause and YOUR DIL such a great channel for that cause.

Our outgoing President, Rabia Ahmed, has dedicated herself to YOUR DIL over the last four years. She was one of the founding members of YD and we thank her for her hard work  and commitment to growing YOUR DIL.  This year we’ve made strides with launching on college campuses around the country, selling t-shirts through the YD online store (www.cafepress.com/yourdil), seeing some YD chapters open up abroad in London and Canada, putting together a fantastic mid-year retreat in San Diego, and running some amazing events.

It is amazing to see how far we have come in the past four years. This year we took on the Chatro project and have raised enough to get it built and ready in the next few months, even as construction costs rise and security concerns in Pakistan are heightened. In 2008, YOUR DIL has gone from maintaining one school to being responsible for the building and maintenance of three. We are now funding the education of hundreds of children in Orangi, Manshera and rural Islamabad.
