In a bid to support the cause for education amongst under-privileged children in Pakistan, 15-year old Alezeh Adil has recently completed a fund raising project in Paris, France.
Currently a student at the International School of Paris, Alezeh was first introduced to DIL in London by DIL Trust UK Chairperson and family friend, Ahmereen Reza. Having heard of DIL’s enormous efforts towards eradicating illiteracy in her home country Pakistan, particularly amongst girls, Alezeh felt a spontaneous inclination to be part of this cause.
Once back in Paris, Alezeh decided to embark on a small-scale fund raising project of her own. As DIL does not have a chapter in Paris, she knew she would have to rely solely on her initiative and personal resources to put the event together.
Alezeh’s primary task was to identify the right platform within her means that would help build the visibility of DIL’s efforts as well as raise funds. As a tenth grade student, one of her academic assignments required her to carry out a project in an
area of interest and continue it for a full academic year. Alezeh decided to use this opportunity to focus on organising a fund raiser event for DIL.
Alezeh sought the help of her school faculty members to conceive an idea for the fund raiser and eventually decided to host a dance party for her fellow school mates.
She was confident that the opportunity to attend a party while helping a charitable cause would be instantly popular amongst young students.
Alezeh single-handedly led the charge on every aspect of the party’s organisation. In order to spread the awareness of the fundraiser, she took special leave from her school to personally invite students from other schools. She managed to convince her school authorities the Paris International School to allow her the use of the school premises for the party. She also teamed up with several family members and friends to organise all other operational activities such as designing entry tickets, catering as well as
sound and lighting equipments.
Alezeh’s dedication paid off well in terms of generating interest amongst students.
She was able to raise nearly Euros 500 from the fund raiser, a commendable feat for a student’s first fund raising experience.
Alezeh firmly believes that education is the key to the development of Pakistan. She is strongly committed to this cause and is looking forward to driving more such fund raising events for DIL in the future.
Well done Alezeh! |
