Technology Enabled Academic Learning (TEAL)
In many underserved classrooms across Pakistan, learning stops at memorization. With limited access to quality materials, technology, or training, students fall behind early—and stay behind. That’s where TEAL comes in. Launched in 2018, TEAL is DIL’s flagship model for middle school transformation. It brings together localized digital resources, interactive lesson plans, and continuous teacher support to enhance student engagement and improve learning outcomes.
What TEAL Delivers
● Standards-aligned instructional videos in English, math, and science
● Interactive lesson plans that foster inquiry and problem-solving
● Solar-powered classroom screens and laptops
● Ongoing technical support
● On-site and virtual teacher training
● Peer coaching and Communities of Practice (CoPs)
● A shift from lecture-based teaching to student-centered learning
● Management tools and guidance for school administrators
How It Works
This visual illustrates how TEAL addresses systemic gaps in education—starting with teacher capacity and ending with student outcomes. From strategy to impact, TEAL aligns quality content, teacher development, and technology to create meaningful, measurable change.
Why It Matters
TEAL doesn’t just improve test scores. It changes how students see themselves—as learners, thinkers, and future leaders.
“After TEAL started at our school, we have seen remarkable changes. Students are excited about the TEAL classes and talk about them at home and in the community. Seven new students joined just to attend our school—even traveling from the city. Their families are willing to pay for transport because of the program.”
— School Principal, TEAL Implementation Site
“My old school only used textbooks and learning was difficult. With TEAL, I can re-watch videos and now I understand things. My grades jumped from 15–20% to 90%.”
—Mahnoor, Grade 8, Kala Shah Kaku
“We used to just cram and memorize. Now we actually understand. Before TEAL I was barely passing; now I’m scoring 70–80%. I want to be a doctor to help the poor in my village.”
—Ifra, Grade 8, Kala Shah Kaku
TEAL’s impact is long-term. DIL graduates are increasingly entering higher education and professions like engineering, medicine, public service, education, software development, accounting, and business—a testament to the power of sustained, quality education.
New Initiatives
Today’s students are tomorrow’s innovators.
But without access to technology, millions are left behind before they even get their start.
DIL’s Ed-Tech strategy is constantly evolving to meet the needs of today’s learners and tomorrow’s world. In addition to scaling proven programs like TEAL, we’re investing in next-generation tools that deepen learning, expand access, and close the opportunity gap in underserved areas.
What’s Ahead
AI-Powered Insights
Tools that help teachers monitor student progress and tailor instruction in real time—empowering them to respond to student needs more effectively and equitably.
AI English Language Tutor
A conversational, student-friendly companion that helps learners build spoken English fluency—an essential skill for accessing higher education and future employment in Pakistan.
Expanded Digital Access
Ensuring every high school student has access to a personal laptop so that learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door. This effort bridges the digital divide in some of Pakistan’s most underserved communities. These laptops are more than hardware. They are gateways—to higher education, critical thinking, research, creativity, and connection. Backed by strong teacher training and a safe digital environment, this initiative ensures that students don’t just use technology, they thrive with it.
TEAL Expansion
Building on the success of TEAL in middle school, DIL is developing new content, lesson plans, and teaching strategies for grades 9 and 10—enabling deeper learning and continuity through high school. This expansion supports students in staying engaged, developing critical skills, and preparing for college or career paths.
At DIL, innovation isn’t a buzzword, it’s a commitment to equity, opportunity, and the future of every learner we serve.
